Shockwave Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – Does It Really Work?
==============================
Dr. Sam – I was watching TV and they said how there’s a new device for fixing erectile dysfunction called Shockwave Therapy. Have you heard about it? Does it work? Is it painful?”

What Is It?
“Low-Intensity Shockwave Therapy” or (LiSWT) is the clinical or medical term for this.

It’s a noninvasive therapy that’s been used in orthopedics for years to help heal broken bones, injured ligaments, and tendons.

So, this isn’t new technology. However, it is new for use in treating erectile problems.

How Does It Work?

LiSWT uses targeted high-energy sound waves to improve wound healing and can speed up tissue repair and cell growth.

So, it primarily works by improving blood flow circulation.

And, I think we all know that in order to get a strong erection, you need healthy blood flow.

Shockwave therapy is administered with a wand-like device placed near different areas of the penis for about 15 minutes, while it emits gentle pulses. No anesthesia is needed.
However, the is slight pain for about 1-2 days after.
The pulses trigger improved blood flow and tissue remodeling in the penis.
There’s currently no established recommendation for the treatment period or frequency.
However, clinical trials found that the most common treatment plan was twice weekly for about 6-9 weeks. At this point, you can evaluate how things are and you can either continue or stop if you’re satisfied.
Apparently, the results can last up to a year… at which point, you have to repeat the process.
The Problem
The main problem and something to consider, is that shockwave therapy and the goal of improving blood flow, tends to work best for men with vasculogenic ED, which is a blood vessel disorder that affects blood flow to the tissue in the penis.

Unfortunately, the therapy’s effectiveness with other causes of ED remains to be seen.

Another problem is that it’s expensive. It’ll cost you anywhere from $500 to $1500 per ONE session.

So, if you’re doing 2 sessions a week for the minimum recommended 6 week period, that’ll cost you between $6,000 to $18,000.
