? How To Stay Motivated Exercising & In Life
=======================================
Today I’m going to discuss a very important aspect about health, one that can be applied to any part of your life if you want LONG TERM success and that’s, continued motivation.

When we first start something new, it’s exciting. That excitement increases specific hormones and neurotransmitters, which increase happiness and motivation.

It can be a new relationship or in today’s topic, exercising. You’re getting results, you’re feeling new emotions and thus, feeling positive feelings.

However, after a while the excitement and newness fades, your body adapts and the improvements in these hormones and neurotransmitters goes back to normal.

And this is about the time most people start complaining, things turn into a “drag” and you slack off, you don’t give as much effort and eventually you just give up and quit.

Before getting to the solutions, I want to quickly discuss the cause for lack of motivation. I’ve already stated that it’s due to negative changes in your hormones and neurotransmitters – but the question is, how or why does this happen?

This is primarily because of 2 reasons:

You’re mentally BORED.
You’re physically DRAINED.

Solutions:

The first is “boredom”.

You need to change your routine around, often. In this case, you need to change your workouts.

At this point in my life, I change my workouts every single time I go to the gym. But, I’ve been doing this for so long, that I need change more often.

Of course I have a basic plan, but everything else will change based on my mood. I’ll even go to different gyms just to get a change in scenery or use different exercises. Or I’ll go at different times of the day.

First, you decide to change up your workout. You can change your sets or reps or body part split or the exercises your use, so on and so forth.

Make a new workout plan that’s different than what you’ve been doing it. It can be big or small changes, but it has to change.

Then, follow this new program for the next 4 weeks.

There are endless options, so I can’t get into this with you.

BUT, let’s just say you were going to do chest and back together. 10 sets each. 10-15 reps.

So 3 weeks you push forward with “progressive overload”, then 4th week you back off to recuperate.

Then plan your next 4 week cycle, and do something completely different again. Maybe Chest with Triceps. Again, the options are endless.

I hope you get the point. I can’t write out all the different ways to workout, just mix it up.

This will keep you mentally motivated because you’re doing something new all the time. And it’ll keep you physically “challenged” and thus, you’ll be getting results, little by little every week… which will motivate you even more.

The second is hormones & “neurotransmitters”.

Now we need to address something even more important – your hormones and neurotransmitters.

Life is stressful.

Exercise is stress on the body – it’s good stress, but it’s still “depleting”.

Eventually, your body gets depleted.

That’s one reason I tell you to do a “back off” week at the gym, once a month.

However, you can’t do that with life – you can’t “back off” your job for a week every month or “pay less” of your bills once a month and so forth.

So, now you have to replenish all of these stress factors and this can be done with 3 proven ways.

SLEEP & REST: Nothing works as well as sleep and rest, to replenish your body. But, most of us don’t get enough. So, try to make improvements here and sleep a little more or nap or just relax in the day for 15 min.

MEDITATION: I also suggest meditation. Granted, most people don’t know how to do this. I just suggest you take 15 min, once or twice daily and just close your eyes and focus on some happy, positive thoughts. I know… this seems silly to some of you, but it works to rebalance your hormones. It’s like rebooting your computer.. Turn OFF the negative dialog in your head.

SUPPLEMENTS: Finally, you need to take supplements and specific herbs, plant extracts, vitamins and minerals that will help replenish your neurotransmitters and reduce your stress hormones, so you’ll have more energy and thus, you’ll be much more motivated, naturally.
