Four Catholic priests kidnapped in Delta State

Delta – The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of four Catholic Priests by unknown gunmen around Umutu/Abraka axis in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Police debunked earlier reports that the priests were kidnapped by herdsmen, saying that the identity of the kidnappers were still unknown.

The priests, who were said to be heading to Benin from Warri in a convoy, were reportedly ambushed on Tuesday by the arms-wielding hoodlums and were whisked to an unknown location.

Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, The state commissioner of Police, who confirmed the abduction to newsmen, however assured that the kidnapped priests would be rescued.

Meanwhile, the vehicles in which the priests were travelling have already been recovered by a joint team of anti-kidnapping policemen from Delta and Edo states.
