The Federal Government has declared November 20, Tuesday, 2018 as a public holiday to mark the Eid-El Maulud celebration.
Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd), The Minister of Interior, made this declaration on behalf of the federal government, and he also called on all Muslim faithful “to align themselves with the prophet’s teachings which border on piety, charity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, among others.”
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday 16 by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Muhammad Umar, the minister urged all Nigerians to uphold these qualities with a view to overcoming the current challenges besieging our dear country.
The Minister of Interior further assured that the Federal Government remained devoted to the unity of the Nation, pledging to put adequate structures on the ground towards ensuring that the forthcoming general elections were free, fair and credible.
He further wished all Nigerians a joyous and peaceful Eid-El Maulud celebration.
