PORT HARCOURT – A seven-storey building has collapsed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with many people stuck.
The building which is located along Woji road in the Port Harcourt G.R.A. was still under construction.
Over 60 persons, including Construction workers were said to be working on the building, when the sour event occurred around 4:30pm on Friday.
The figures are yet to be confirmed.
At about 7:30 pm, three hours after incident, emergency aids workers had rescued 21 individuals from the ruins.
More persons are still trapped under the rubble, as emergency workers, security operatives and some government officials and other concerned citizens are currently trying to rescue the trapped. Ambulances are also on the standby to convey injured persons to hospitals.
One of the workers at the construction site told Newsmen that he had just left the structure when he heard a resounding bang and turned around to see what had happened.
He gave details that there were several workers in the building when the collapse occurred because Friday was usually their pay day for the week.
