Nigerian Man Bags 7 Years Jail Term For Human Trafficking

A young man identified as, Eric David, has bagged 7 years jail term for trafficking a teenage girl from Lagos state to Republic of Mali.

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, sentenced the 25- year old man, Eric David, to seven years imprisonment for human trafficking.

The suspect was arrested on the allegation of trafficking a 19-year-old girl to Mali for prostitution.

Further investigations revealed that after he had trafficked the girl to Mali, he returned to Nigeria to recruit more unsuspecting victims.

However, in the process, the girl was able to contact her sister, Juliet, who pretended to have interest in travelling to Mali. When she contacted Eric and he agreed to come pick her, the suspect was apprehended.

A four-count charge was levelled against him when he was arraigned on the 5th of December 2018.

Due to the overpowering evidences presented by the prosecutor, the convict pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
