A secondary school teacher in Lagos has been faulted for brutalizing a student for ringing the bell, during class hours.
The Senior School 2 student of Zumratul Islamiyyah Junior/Senior School in Yaba axis of Lagos, identified as Ridwan Yunus was grotesquely brutalized by their social studies teacher, Mr Babatunde.
This is coming just after it was reported that a secondary school teacher, Sunday Adeshina, was incarcerated at the Kirikiri prison in Lagos State after he reportedly flogged a female student until she started bleeding. Sunday was said to have flogged Onyinye Nwakaeme, a 14-year-old SS3 student on the head when she could not give a precise answer to questions he asked her during his class.
Onyinye, a student of Great Esteem Private Secondary School in Ijeshatedo axis of Lagos state told correspondents;
“We were taking Economics class that day and I was copying note. I had just returned from my father’s funeral. Being behind schedule, I used every obtainable time to copy my notes because I had a lot to write.
“Mr. Adeshina saw me and called me out with some other students, claiming that we were making noise and asked us to explain what he had been teaching. I didn’t get the question right because I was actually not paying attention to him. He burst into anger, he started flogging me.
“He flogged me to the extent I was bleeding on my head and he didn’t stop. Even when the proprietor asked him to stop, he was furious and wanted to flog me more.”
