Rochas Okorocha`s son in-law and gubernatorial aspirant of the Action Alliance(AA) in Imo State, Mr. Uche Nwosu, on Tuesday 11th of December,2018 said no amount of blackmail would stop him, his supporters and the party from supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
Mr. Nwosu said though he left the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the AA to actualise his governorship goal because of the injustice meted out to him, his support for President Buhari remained intact.
“My support for the President is beyond personal considerations or party and religious inclinations,” Nwosu supposed.
Mr. Uche Nwosu said those peddling the rumour that he was no longer supporting the President since he joined a new party were only being jittery.
He stated, “Whether they blackmail us or not, the truth is that we have made up our minds to support President Muhammadu Buhari.
“If I will not be supporting President Buhari, I won’t be putting his pictures on my billboards and campaign posters; otherwise who am I deceiving?
“We have, together with the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, made up our minds to support President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 and nothing can change that.
“In 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari won with a wide margin in my Eziama-Obire Ward and in the 2019 election, despite being the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, I will deliver my ward for President Buhari but those running to Abuja to blackmail me cannot convince a single person to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari.”
The AA Aspirant said the people of the state would resist any attempt to rig the 2019 election in the state.
Mr. Nwosu said his campaign organisation had confidence in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair elections in the state.
He added further, “We have implicit confidence in the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission under Professor Mahmud Yakubu to deliver credible elections.
“Those relying on rigging and other malpractices will fail. The people of the state will resist any attempt to steal their mandate, the people’s vote must count.
“In fact, anybody thinking of rigging the 2019 elections is making a big mistake because we will resist it. The youths of Imo State will resist it, the women and the leaders of the state will resist it.”
