Disney Channel actor Stoney Westmoreland has been fired after he was apprehended in Salt Lake City for allegedly trying to have a sexual relationship with an online friend he believed was 13 years of age.
In a statement Saturday, Disney broadcasted that the 48-year-old Westmoreland had been sacked from the sitcom “Andi Mack,” on which he plays the grandfather of the teenage title character. The show airs in Utah.
Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking opened to The Associated Press that Westmoreland was on his way to what he alleged would be a sexual meeting when he was arrested Friday and indicted with enticing a minor and sending inappropriate materials, including nude images. A note left with Westmoreland’s agent, Mitchell Stubbs, was not immediately brought back.
Westmoreland’s other filming credits includes “Scandal” and “Breaking Bad.”
