An Arizona girl nearly lost her leg after going 30 hours without realizing she had been bitten by a rattlesnake, according to her family.

Allie Brasfield, 7, was spending time with family at Gilbert Regional Park on Monday, Sept. 16, when she fell while jogging along a canal, according to Arizona’s Family.

“It didn’t hurt right away,” Allie said, per NBC affiliate KNPX. Amber Brasfield, her mother, later claimed, “No one saw a snake, no one heard a rattle.”

Allie’s mom said her daughter was able to finish the run but complained of ankle pain and swelling shortly after returning home, according to FOX affiliate KSAZ-TV.

It was not long until Allie noticed she was not feeling well. Concerned, her parents took her to multiple emergency rooms, which struggled to diagnose her.

Finally, the family ended up at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a rattlesnake bite. More than 30 hours passed between the moment Allie was bitten and when doctors started responding to the bite.

Luckily, doctors were able to save Allie’s leg and her life. Allie was given 40 vials of anti-venom and has undergone two surgeries in response to the injury.

However, Allie’s mom claimed “there was no puncture wounds” on her daughter’s leg, according to KNPX.

“It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through, seeing your child crying in pain and you can’t do anything about it,” Amber said, per Arizona’s Family.

Allie was expected to undergo a third surgery on Monday, Sept. 30, according to a GoFundMe campaign started to support her family following the sudden emergency.

Amber said Allie still “has a long road” ahead of her but believes her daughter is “making good progress” health-wise, KSAZ-TV reported.

“They’re hoping that just with physical therapy and occupational therapy that she will be able to make full recovery,” the mom explained, per Arizona’s Family. “Nothing about her case is normal.”
