There’s a lot of questions and confusion about inflammation. Most people don’t really know what it is.

Yes, inflammation is linked to most major health problems.

Yes, inflammation gets worse as we age. In fact, there’s the medical term for it and it’s called, “inflammaging”

However, inflammation is needed, or else your body wouldn’t function properly.

Inflammation happens in everyone, whether you’re aware of it or not.

Your immune system creates inflammation to protect the body from infection, injury, or disease. There are many things you wouldn’t be able to heal from without inflammation.

Simply stated, Inflammation refers to your body’s process of fighting against things that harm it, in an attempt to heal itself.
When something damages your cells, your body releases chemicals that trigger a response from your immune system.
This response includes the release of antibodies and proteins, as well as increased blood flow to the damaged area.
For example, you get a cut on your body. You’ll notice that soon after, the area swells up and turns red. Your immune system is trying to heal that area AND make sure you don’t get an infection.
This is known as “acute inflammation” and this is good. This is part of the survival mechanism. This process lasts a few hours or days.
In fact, Inflammation is classified into two main types:
Acute inflammation which I just gave an example of, usually occurs for a short (yet often severe) duration. It often resolves in two weeks or less. Symptoms appear quickly. This type restores your body to its state before injury or illness.
Chronic inflammation is a slower and generally less severe form of inflammation. It typically lasts longer than six weeks. It can occur even when there’s no injury, and it doesn’t always end when the illness or injury is healed. Chronic inflammation has been linked to autoimmune disorders and prolonged stress.
This form of “chronic” inflammation is the REAL problem.
This is why it’s called “inflammaging” because we have more of it as we age since our bodies have a harder time fighting against it due to the lack of optimal hormones, stems cells, and so forth.
This chronic inflammation is what negatively affects your body and brain, inside and out.
This is what accelerates aging.
This is what causes pain.
This is what causes wrinkles and hair loss.
This is what causes negative hormonal imbalances.
This is what causes negative mood changes.
This is what slowly damages your organs – heart, pancreas, liver, etc.
Our goal is to reduce chronic inflammation so you look and feel better and slow down the aging process.
