Suspect arrested as Army intercepts large quantity of drugs in Ogun

Troops of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Ogun State, have intercepted 365 pieces of pawpaw size wrapped Cannabis Sativa popularly known as Indian hemp weighing about 176KG.

The military men also arrested a 25-year-old suspected drug pusher, Fatai Bankole, in connection with the seizure. 

The Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, made this known in a statement on Saturday, January 13, 2024, after handing over the drugs to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ogun State Command on Thursday. 

The Army boss said the suspect was arrested by troops on routine patrol on 6 January 2024 at Olodo Imeko along Imeko – Abeokuta road in Ogun state.

The Garrison Commander, Colonel Legborsi Deedum Nule who represented the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade said the Brigade will continue to sustain all efforts in collaborating with other security agencies to rid the State of crimes. 

Col Nule further reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring troops maintain high standard and professionalism at all times in discharging their duties.

The Commandant NDLEA Ogun State Command, Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili commended the effort of the Brigade and solicited more collaboration with the military, as well as other security agencies in the State.
