The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber, Usman Maniya for attacking a commercial motorcyclist and carting away his bike.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, said the suspect posed as a passenger and hired the rider to convey him to a destination.
“On 19/1/2024 at about 1300hrs, information was received from Kudu Police outstation, Mokwa Div that on 18/1/2024 at about 2100hrs, a motorcyclist conveyed one Usman Maniya aged 22yrs of Gbete village and before getting to their destination, the said Usman attacked the rider with a cutlass, severed the rider right’s hand and took the unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued about seven hundred thousand naira away,” the statement read.
“The suspect was arrested by the Police operatives of Kudu outstation, Mokwa Div based on the information received from the community.
“The exhibits of the cutlass and the motorcycle were recovered from the suspect. The victim was taken to Gen. Hospital Mokwa and he is responding to treatment.
“The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.”
