The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command, has paraded twelve persons arrested in connection with various crimes in the state.

Parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the state Commandant, Agboola Adisa Sunday explained that the suspects were apprehended in locations around Ado-Ekiti metropolis for crimes ranging from armed robbery, illicit drug usage and peddling, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy and cyber-related crimes.

Agboola expressed his readiness to cooperate with other security agencies in the state to flush out criminal elements in the state by using overt and covert means to solve security questions so that Ekiti can be at peace with unflinching support from the general public.

One of the suspects, Adesoji Victor,19, was arrested at a foiled robbery scene along the Oke Ila axis of Ado Ekiti where three people armed with a locally made pistol attempted to rob a supermarket belonging to Mrs. Adepoju Victoria.

“The Command Counter Terrorism Unit rose up and mobilized to the scene of the attack which led to the arrest of the suspect while others escaped. The CTU operatives neutralized the suspects and recovered one locally made barrel cut to pistol size, a registered motorcycle and other dangerous weapons,” Agboola stated.

“Others are Samuel Michael 25 years, Adebayo Lateef 29 years, Opeyemi Adelusi 24 years, Daramola Ariyo 26 years and Wasiu Ariyo, 29 years were arrested along Omisanjana axis of Ado Ekiti.

“They had illicit drugs, suspected cannabis sativa in large quantity, phones and cyber crimes materials. They have been terrorising that area with reports from landlords of the area to the Unit, showing that they are of questionable character. Other suspected illicit drugs were also recovered from them.

“Ayodele Ayomide, 20 years and Oladapo Agbe were arrested along Oke Ila in Ado Ekiti after they had successfully broke into a church and stole a heavy-duty generator belonging to the church.

“The CTU acted on a top-off received from a good Samaritan and traced the suspect to where he was attempting to sell the stolen generator to one Oladapo Agbe at a ridiculous price.

“Lastly, Osalusi, Ayo, 28 years and one other at large were alleged to have stolen air conditioner along Ajebandele area of Ado Ekiti.”

The Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command also issued warnings to all criminal elements in the state to leave the state as the state will be so hot for them in the coming weeks.

“All hands are on deck to smoke out criminal elements from all the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State with the support of all other similar agencies in the state as security is a business of all,” he added.
