A woman couldn’t help but crack a smile when a man sheepishly approached her to ask her an “awkward question” in the middle of a supermarket. She explained how she was buying her weekly groceries with her children when the man walked up to her, looking flustered and confused.

She said on Reddit: “I had seen this man frantically walk around the same area but didn’t think much of it. We were in the toiletries section and I had just been talking to my daughter about if we should try this new shampoo and conditioner that was on sale.

“We started walking towards toilet paper and the same man taps my shoulder and says ‘I hope this isn’t too awkward of a question but where are tampons?’.” Wanting to help, she pointed him in the right direction before answering his follow-up question.

“He asked me what he should buy and said she is 45 and has had kids,” she added. “I am not bothered by this question more just thinking dang men need knowledge about women, I show him what I get. He tried to grab just any box.

“I tell him it’s better to get a box that has regular and super because that is what you usually need. He was super confused and what truly made me laugh was at the end, he looked at me and said “is there anything cheaper” I told him no, there is not.”

Sharing this encounter on Reddit, she praised him for making sure he walked away from the store with the products that his wife needed. She added: “Good on him for taking care of her. It was quite the wake-up call for another guy how much we have to spend for something we have absolutely no control over.”

Commenting on her post, one user said: “My dad always did the shopping when I was growing up and would pick up tampons for me. My mum had a hysterectomy when I was little so I was the only one in the house who needed them. He just tore the top off my existing box and took it to the store so he could get the right ones for me (this was long before smartphones). I miss that guy.”

Another user added: “I have a long-time friend who’s a metal worker and mechanic. One time he was visiting while I was at work and had an emergency. I asked him to run to the house and grab me a tampon and told him where they were. I had the multi-pack of light, regular, and heavy which are marked in purple, yellow, and green, respectively. A few minutes later, I get a text, ‘Do you need lemon, lime, or grape?’.”

A third user said: “I asked my mum once if my dad was ever weird about buying pads for her and she said ‘you don’t marry someone who won’t buy pads for you’. He has three sisters and was always chill about picking me up from school on my period.”
