Colin Jost is sharing a “foot update” after having to leave his post as NBC’s Olympic swimming correspondent due to an injury he sustained to his foot that led to a number of infections.
Jost, 42, appeared in a video he posted to Instagram on Sunday, and delivered the update like a news anchor while standing on a Mediterranean beach.
“‘Dude, are you OK?’ That’s the no. 1 text message I’ve received in the past 48 hours. Usually followed by, ‘Heard your foot fell off.'” Jost said in the video. “Well, I’m actually fine! And despite what big media conspiracies would have you believe, I wasn’t ‘sent home’ from the Olympics. NBC simply looked at my food, declared me legally a leper, and exiled me here, to the island of Malta!”

“Now Malta doesn’t have many Olympians competing this year, but it does have thousands of 15-year-old British kids competing to see who can black out the fastest, and somehow they’re all winning,” Jost continued. “They also have this casino behind me, where I’ve blown the hundreds of dollars I’ve earned as a surfing correspondent.”
“But the real reason I’m in Malta of course is because it was the site of 10 separate bubonic plague outbreaks,” he added. “So they thought I would fit right in.”
“I want to thank the people of Tahiti for their warmth, their hospitality, their generosity and for only occasionally looking at my foot and and whispering ‘Chupacabra!'”
On July 26, Jost shared a photo of his bloodied foot on Instagram after scraping it on a coral reef.
“This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me,” he joked in his caption. Days later, he posted another pic of his foot — this time covered in bandages — after suffering a staph infection.
“You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes,” he cracked.
In his latest update, Jost shared a health update as well, joking, “Rest assured, my foot is pretty much totally fine. Even though I’m not letting you look at it.”
After finishing up his sign-off from the beach in Malta, Jost awkwardly shuffled off, gingerly favoring his injured foot.
Last Tuesday, it was announced that Jost has taken on a headlining gig at the Fringe Festival in Rochester, New York, next month after pal Pete Davidson bowed out to seek mental health treatment.
