Prince Harry is back in New York City to support his patronages and philanthropies.

On Sept. 22, the Duke of Sussex, 40, stepped out in N.Y.C. for a planned solo trip. Harry was last in Manhattan in October 2023 with his wife, Meghan Markle, for a set of events on World Mental Health Day.

Prince Harry attended a high-profile dinner on Sunday night at an event organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) that focused on “Violence against children and its impact on mental health,” according to Hello!. Also in attendance was Queen Mathilde of Belgium, actor Forest Whitakerand officials from Sweden, Canada, Zimbabwe, Iceland, Brazil, Colombia and Georgia, all of whom are in New York City for the UN General Assembly, according to the Daily Mail.

In August, a spokesperson for Prince Harry announced that the duke would visit N.Y.C.during the UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week. Climate Week runs from Sept. 22 until Sept. 29, while High-level Week spans Sept. 23 to Sept. 27.

The spokesperson added that Prince Harry would be in New York to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives” and “participate in engagements with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst.”

Harry will also “be furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit organization he co-founded with his wife Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex,” the spokesperson said.

Harry and Meghan, 43, established the charitable Archewell Foundation in 2020 with the mission to “Show up, do good,” its website says. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have honed the nonprofit’s focus to three zones — uplifting communities, building a better online world and restoring trust in information — and emphasized the themes during their Colombia tour in August.

The Duke of Sussex is in New York after marking a major milestone — his 40th birthday. Prince Harry, who turned 40 on Sept. 15, told PEOPLE that his children are his best present. Harry and Meghan are parents to Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, and are raising their kids in the Duchess of Sussex’s home state of California.

Reflecting on his birthday, the Duke of Sussex told PEOPLE via his spokesperson, “The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day and love being their dad.”

Following the announcement of Prince Harry’s upcoming trip to New York City in September, speculation arose about whether he and his brother, Prince William, might cross paths. The timing coincides with the Prince of Wales’ third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit, set to take place at the Plaza Hotel on Sept. 24.

After the announcement of Prince Harry’s New York City trip in September, some wondered if he and his brother Prince William would be in the same place at the same time in light of the Prince of Wales’ third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit at the Plaza Hotel on Sept. 24.

Although Prince William, 42, traveled to New York for the event in September 2023, he is not expected to attend this year.
