Heidi Klum is once again proving she’s the Halloween Queen!
On Thursday, Oct. 31, the supermodel, 51, hosted her 23rd annual Halloween Party at Hard Rock Hotel New York: The Venue on Music Row.
Known for her extravagant Halloween costumes over the years, Klum and her husband Tom arrived as female and male versions of E.T. from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
On the red carpet, Klum told PEOPLE she decided to embody the character because E.T. has been “part of most of our lives” and she’s always been “a big fan.”
“[I] kind of thought about the universe in a different way and I thought E.T. was so cute and how he was wiggling around and all the moments when E.T. got dressed up with a wig and everything so I just thought it would be fun to become E.T. and especially to see two,” she says, noting that they started getting ready since 11 a.m.
According to The New York Times, the costume includes a glowing fingertip — an ode to the beloved movie — and a motorized headpiece with a movable mouth and eyes.
Earlier this month, Monáe, 38 revealed to PEOPLE that her version of the costume was years in the making.
“I’ve shared a costume idea with someone’s team, actually, and tried to get a price for how much it would cost. And then I found out that person was going to be that and I had been planning this costume for two years,” she told us, noting at the time that she would be dressed as “an iconic movie character.
Klum revealed that she had completed her final fittings for her costume on Wednesday.
“It’s gonna be very exciting,” Klum said in an Instagram video. “Just did my last fitting and it’s gonna be awesome. I hope.”
“See you all tomorrow,” she added before blowing a kiss to the camera.
