Randy Moss is staying positive.
The NFL Hall of Famer’s business partner, chef Brittany Tolliferreo — who recently opened a fried chicken restaurant in Miami with the former Minnesota Vikings player — told TMZ Sports that Moss is “in great spirits” following his cancer diagnosis.
“He won’t stop and he wants everything to just be successful and continue to grow,” she added.
Moss, 47, and Toliferro began collaborating in 2023 when the athlete invested in her Philadelphia-based restaurant Chick-a-Boom, per Forbes. Their latest venture, Crisppi’s Chicken, opened earlier this month.
The football player turned ESPN analyst initially revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in an Instagram Live in December 2024. In the video, Moss said he initially suspected something was wrong when he noticed his urine was discolored, prompting him to visit his doctor.
“So I did have cancer,” he said. “They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver, and that the cancer was sitting right outside the bile duct.”
Moss then explained that he underwent the first of several surgeries over Thanksgiving, adding that a stent had been inserted in his liver.

Moss later said that he underwent another surgery the following month. the Whippleprocedure — an operation that treats tumors and other conditions in the pancreas, small intestine and bile ducts, per the Mayo Clinic.
“It was a trying week, a trying time. So once again, I thank you all,” Moss continued in the video, before thanking his medical team in Charlotte, N.C.
As he then explained that he would also undergo radiation and chemotherapy, Moss encouraged his followers — particularly fellow Black men — to undergo regular cancer screenings.
“By the grace of God, my liver started acting up,” he said at another point in the livestream, adding, “I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was.”

Fans were initially learned that Moss was “battling something internally” when he shared a video on Instagram in December, though he did not disclose the nature of the challenge at the time.
“Throughout the week of the holidays, your boy has been battling something internal,” Moss said in the video at the time. “I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put they blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times.”
Several days later, ESPN announced that Moss would be stepping away from his role as co-host of Sunday NFL Countdown to focus on his health in a statement on X.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready,” the statement read.
