The ‘White Lotus’ actor showcases his versatile acting talents in his first ever Super Bowl commercial for GoDaddy
Walton Goggins may be starring in the upcoming season of The White Lotus, but one week before the season 3 premiere of the hotly anticipated show, he’ll hit the small screen in his first-ever Super Bowl commercial for GoDaddy.
In the spot, which promotes GoDaddy Airo, the company’s AI-powered tool for small business owners, Goggins, 53, makes fun of his own profession.
“Actors,” he begins. “We have the power to convince the world we know what we’re doing. When in fact, we do not.” He continues to show off his “talents” playing a detective, astronaut, and race car driver.
The spot is tied to Goggins’ small business, Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses, which he launched in November. Described as “a sexy pair of shades that move with you as you dance to the rhythm of life” Goggins stated in an open letter on the website that he wanted to create “a pair of stylish sunglasses that expressed and integrated with my inward and outward journey.”
The Goggle Glasses are available in five colors.
“This particular spot is very exciting for me to be a part of,” Goggins recently told PEOPLE of the commercial.
“It revolves around the small business experience, and it was absolutely instrumental in my process,” he said of launching his company.
While shooting the ad down in Mexico City several months ago, there were also plenty of blooper takes and moments where Goggins couldn’t help but giggle.
As far as who Goggins might be rooting for in Sunday’s championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, he said he has no skin in the game — he’s just a big fan of football in general.
“I just like to watch the game,” he said.
The Justified actor explained, “I am from a small town in Georgia, and it’s like Friday Night Lights was my real-life experience. I played ninth to 12th grade, and life very much revolved around the pep rallies, the Friday night games, going to Shoney’s after with the team and cheerleaders. And I absolutely loved it.
He also absolutely loved shooting White Lotusseason 3 — which premieres Feb. 16 on HBO — but nope, he still can’t reveal any spoilers.
“Nobody writes an existential crisis like Mike White does,” Goggins told PEOPLE at the Emmy’s in 2024. “And we’re all still unpacking it. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.”
He said he and his White Lotus costars — including Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan and Natasha Rothwell — are now friends forever from the experience.
“When I say the ‘Golden Ticket,’ it’s not what you can get from an experience like that, but it’s the experience itself, and for the few that are given that opportunity, it is something that will bond you for life.”
