Travis Kelce may be sticking with the Kansas City Chiefs for another season.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, NFL reporter and insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini, appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and reported that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, is “leaning” toward playing another season with his team.
This news comes after The Athletic reported on Thursday, Feb. 13 that Kelce would have to decide whether or not he retires from the NFL by March 14 following his Super Bowl defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I can just tell you from just having a few conversations with people around the league over the last few days there’s definitely a sense that Travis is going to try to play more,” Russini, 42, said. “I haven’t heard anyone say, ‘Yeah, he’s really struggling with what he wants to do,’ it’s definitely leaning more toward that.”

She added, “That can, of course, change. This is going to be his decision, his decision only, but for this Chiefs’ operation looking to move forward here, I think they feel pretty good that Travis has got a little bit more left in him.”
Russini said that Kelce takes good care of his body and trained hard at the start of the latest season.

“Someone there shared a story with me just a few days before they opened up to start this season,” she said.
“It was a Monday night, people trying to get out of the building, it was like 8:30 at night and the lights in the area where the guys do the band work, just small muscle, there’s Travis in there working,” the journalist continued.
Russini added that despite his spotlight outside of sports, “he does balance it all, he takes care of his body really well.”
“Travis does it behind closed doors,” she said. “He does what he needs to do to keep up with that maintenance.”
In the days since Kelce and the Chiefs lost 40-22 to the Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl, he’s shared his frustration with how the game went. Speaking about the loss on his New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce podcast on Wedneday, Feb. 12, the star said, “It just wasn’t our day.”
“I couldn’t find a lick of momentum. I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field,” he continued. “I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, collected.”
“I put a lot of that on myself as the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl,” he said.
He added, “It’s a tough pill to swallow. It’s a hard reality, man. I love my teammates, I love my coaches. Chiefs Kingdom, I’m sorry for how it ended.”
