“BBC Dad” is looking back at his family’s viral moment, eight years later.

Professor Robert E. Kelly shared his annual update on his children to commemorate eight years since daughter Marion and son James crashed his serious BBC interview, playing in the background of his live shot.

“Today is the eighth anniversary of the ‘BBC Dad’ blooper, so here are some recent family pictures. The kids are growing fast,” he shared on X.

The family became Internet famous in March 2017 when Kelly had unexpected office visitors while he was being interviewed on live television by BBC about the political crisis in South Korea.

His daughter took his open office door as an invitation to crash his interview.

As seen in the video, Marion was in a giddy mood when she dance-walked into the room in their apartment in Busan, South Korea, and went right up to the camera. As the BBC interviewer acknowledged Kelly’s daughter, her baby brother came bouncing in behind her, followed by their frazzled mother.

“Pardon me, my apologies,” Kelly said calmly as his wife tried to herd the children out of the room.

Sharing photos, he revealed that son James is now 9. Marion, who goes by middle name Yena, is now almost 12.

“As always, my wife & I are very grateful for all the kind remarks over the years about our children. Thank you so much. Bob,” Kelly concluded his 2025 post.

The original video of the moment, memorialized by BBC, has more than 62 million views on YouTube.
