Paul Danan reportedly died from a cocktail of drugs including heroin and cocaine, a court has heard.
On Tuesday, March 11, an inquest opening at Avon Coroner’s Court in England heard the provisional cause of Danan’s death was from the combined toxicity of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine, zopiclone, contributed to by benzodiazepine use, BBC reported.
Coroner’s officer Alexis Camp told the hearing that Danan was pronounced dead at his home in Brislington, Bristol, at 5:20 pm local time on Jan. 15, per the outlet.
He was famed for starring as Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks, as well as the reality TV series Celebrity Love Island and Celebrity Big Brother.

Camp told the hearing that Danan’s body was identified by his partner, Melissa Crooks, according to the UK newspaper The Guardian.
“The circumstances are that Mr. Danan was found unresponsive at his home address,” Camp said, per the outlet. “Emergency services attended and confirmed he had sadly died. A postmortem has taken place and samples have been removed for further analysis.”
“I understand there are no family concerns,” she added. “No note was left.”
Statements will be taken from Danan’s GP, family, police and the ambulance service, and inquiries are ongoing with Avon and Wiltshire mental health partnership NHS trust, the hearing was told, according to The Guardian.
The inquest was opened and adjourned before senior coroner Maria Voisin announced May 28 as a provisional date for the full inquest hearing.

Before his death, Danan was set to attend a plea hearing at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Jan. 16, having been charged with cocaine and cannabis possession, according to court documents obtained by the BBC.
He had previously been accused of driving while under the influence of drugs in Warrington, Cheshire, in October last year per the outlet.
Danan was also hospitalized due to a vaping addiction that caused respiratory failure less than a year ago in June 2024.
The late actor’s January death was announced by his management company, Independent Creative Management, on Instagram.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old,” the post read.
“Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him.”
