Premier League club, Chelsea are reportedly prepared to allow N’Golo Kante to miss the rest of the 2019-20 season if his fears over coronavirus persist.

The French midfielder, 29, who reported for the first day of training at the club’s Cobham HQ on Tuesday failed to show up for Wednesday’s training due to health concerns linked to the coronavirus.

On Thursday, Kante was present at the club’s training ground on Thursday to undergo testing but is now remaining at home over concerns for his health over the ongoing pandemic.

Sources told Mail Online Football that the World Cup winner is nervous about returning to action, and Manager Frank Lampard is said to be entirely supportive of his key midfielder’s fears and decision.

The insiders said that the club will put no pressure on the player to return until he is comfortable, but if the fears over coronavirus continue he’d be allowed to miss the rest of the 2019-20 season.

In March 2018, Kante collapsed in front of his team-mates in training before being given a clean bill of health. Before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the former Leicester City star lost his older brother, Niama, to a heart attack after losing his father when he was 11 years old.

Watford captain, Troy Deeney has also refused to return to action because his young son has suffered with breathing difficulties. Some of his teammates are also expected to skip training after defender Adrian Mariappa tested positive for the virus.
