The Nigerian Senate has threatened to issue a warrant for the arrest some ministers who have failed to honour its invitation to answer audit queries against them.

The Senate committee on public accounts on Thursday, June 11, said it would be compelled to issue arrest warrants on the minister information and culture, Lai Mohammed, the minister of state, Petroleum, Timipre Sylva and minister of power Saleh Mamman and other heads of agencies if they do not honor its invitation, Vanguard reported.

The Senate said the ministers have failed to honour its invitation to answer audit queries against them.

Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the chairman of the committee stated that the others who have refused to hounour the invitation include the minister of women affairs and social development, Pauline Tallen, her counterpart in the ministry of solid minerals development, Olamilekan Adegbite and the chairman, National Population Commission (NPC).

He said heads of agencies have cultivated the habit of failing to honour Senate invitations.

Meanwhile, in a renewed effort against insecurity across the country, the leaders of the National Assembly (NASS) have agreed to meet President Muhammadu Buhari and the service chiefs.

The ninth Senate, marking its one year anniversary on Thursday, June 11, reached the consensus to take the bull by the horn amid alarming rises in killing and attacks on villages in some states.
