Park Won-soon, the mayor of the South Korean capital Seoul, is missing.
According to South Korean police, Park was reported missing by his daughter, at around 5 p.m. Thursday (4 a.m. ET), and the police have launched a massive search for him. Reports from South Korean media say his phones are all off.
Park, 64, has been Seoul’s mayor since 2011, and might contest in the 2022 presidential elections.
Park, a former human rights lawyer is regarded as the second most powerful man in the country.
He was overwhelmingly reelected as Mayor of Seoul in 2014 and again in 2018.
