A woman is currently on the run after police placed a search warrant on her after she saw her ex-boyfriend with a new girl and decided to run her over with her car.
The Louisiana woman identified as Lakeshia Rideau, of Opelousas fled the scene of a hit and run crash before dawn on Saturday (Oct.19) outside the Crestview Apartments.
According to reports, Rideau spotted her ex-boyfriend returning home after a night out with his new girlfriend. Rideau reportedly floored the gas and struck the victim, before fleeing the scene in a late model brown and tan Nissan Maxima.
Police Chief Martin McClendon, confirmed that the incident happened around 1 a.m. when the victim and her male companion were returning home from an evening out. He said a short while later the victim was struck by a vehicle allegedly being driven by the man’s ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Lakeshia Rideau who then drove away.
According to him, the victim was transported to a local hospital where it was determined that she suffered broken bones in her legs and other internal injuries caused by a vehicle tyre. She is expected to recover but may never walk the same again.
Rideau is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
