So Solid Crew member Lisa Maffia bravely shared her cancer battle with fans as she admitted to never missing a smear test
Lisa Maffia has revealed she has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The singer, 41, who said she had never missed a smear test, broke the news to fans on Instagram as she headed to a Colposcopy appointment at hospital.
Opening up about the experience, Lisa revealed: “”I never miss a smear and I unfortunately have cervical cancer. So now I’m even more cautious.
“This is just a reminder to anyone that maybe has forgotten to get tested!
“It’s not a game,” she urged.
Following the hospital appointment Lisa returned to Instagram where she had been ‘petrified’ but the process was ‘quick and easy.’
“Just like that I am already out. As you can see I was really upset…,” said the tearful star.
Lisa then admitted that her mum is battling terminal cancer which had made her experience even tougher.
“My mum has cervical cancer, terminal cancer, so going into this every time I’ve had to go into this – this is the third time they’ve had to check my cells – makes me absolutely petrified,” she explained.
The former So Solid Crew member said she wanted to share her news with fans to encourage people to keep updated with their smear tests and ‘to be mindful of your health in general’.
“It can happen to anyone,” said the brave star.
