Aaron Rodgers wants a team to want him.
The 41-year-old free agent quarterback — who was dismissed by the New York Jets earlier this month after two seasons with the team — is mulling his next steps.
But in an exchange with us on Thursday, Feb. 19, one week after the Jets announced that they would be “moving forward without him,” Rodgers is signaling where he might want to go.
Among his priorities? When he was asked what ranks among his prerequisites, he responded: “If they want you.”
Rodgers added that he wouldn’t mind “if they got a good team.”
For the iconic signal-caller, a fresh start at another franchise could be in the cards.
Rodgers joined the Jets after he was traded from the Green Bay Packers, where he played for 14 seasons, in April 2023.

In his first game with the team, the quarterback suffered a torn Achilles tendon that took him out for the entire season.
Rodgers recovered and started in every game for the Jets during the 2024 season with lackluster results, finishing 5-13 and missing the playoffs.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, the organization announced that they were ready to move on.
In a statement, head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey said, “Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback.”
After more than a decade with the Packers and two years on the Jets, Rodgers is adding “journeyman” to his resume.
Upon leaving Wisconsin in 2023, he shared his excitement about a new destination.
“We’ve all turned the page. It’s a new chapter,” he said at the time. “I think it’s going to be exciting for Green Bay, moving on. It’s definitely been really fun for me out here.”
