America’s Got Talent returned to TV on Tuesday for the third night of auditions, and the competition continues to shine bigger and brighter than ever! ET is following along throughout the hour-long episode to break down all the best, biggest and most surprising moments.
Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum are judging and voting on a whole new slate of AGT hopefuls, who are risking life and limb for a shot at moving on to the next round of competition or maybe earning the coveted Golden Buzzer.
Last week, Cowell awarded his Golden Buzzer to an inspiring young singer who goes by the stage name Nightbirde, who floored the outspoken judge with a breathtaking original tune and a powerful story about her battle with cancer and her refusal to let it define her.
Tonight, the fun kicks off later than usual at 10 p.m. ET/PT — instead of the show’s usual 8 p.m. start time — and is only an hour instead of two. Watch along with ET for a look at all the acts who gave it their best shot during week three of America’s Got Talent.
Taekwondo Team KOs Their Audition
7:54 PM: For their performance, a multinational Taekwondo demonstration team is proving once again why martial arts rock and are beloved by all.
This group was invited to go to the Olympics but were unable to accept due to COVID-19 concerns. Instead, they have taken their talents to the AGT stage, and are giving the judges goosebumps.
This is something so far beyond just talent. It’s also a perfect example of why AGT is so wonderfully eclectic. How do you compare this to a teenage singer or a stand-up comic?
Some of the things this group pull off are so impressive, they don’t even seem physically impossible. Terry declares, “I have never seen anything like that in my life,” and we couldn’t agree with him more.
Kicking wood has never been so exciting, and their final stunt — which involves a man flipping two stories in the air to break a board with his food — is astounding.
Simon kicks off the feedback with a joke, offering, “Yeah, it was alright,” and feigning disinterest.
He later says, “I think what you did was one of the most extraordinary things I’ve ever seen on America’s Got Talent.”
When Simon says they have to vote, Terry says, “No you don’t!”
He comes out and says that was the most incredible thing he’s ever witnessed, and because they weren’t able to make it to the Olympics to get a gold medal, “I’m gonna give you something golden right now,” before slamming the Golden Buzzer.
This was truly earned, and Simon’s 100 percent right when he says it’s a “great Golden Buzzer” choice on Terry’s part.
The Misfit Hits the Stage
7:47 PM: So, The Misfit (as she calls herself) starts her act by building herself up way higher than makes sense or she could possibly live up to.
She describes herself as a blend of Lady Gaga and Panic! At the Disco. She also says she’s “bigger than pop” and “bigger than art.”
When asked if she’s a singer or a dancer, she tells Simon she’s “a rock star” and confidently declares that she’s “pretty sure I’ve already won” AGT.
As expected, she’s not good. Like, not even that interesting. It’s just another weird, over-cocky nonsense act that allows the judges to hit their buzzers once in a while.
Simon thinks it’s “seriously terrible” and Heidi is the next to buzz. Howie looks like he’s trying to see if it’s a joke or not.
Anyway, she gets four no votes and that was a waste of five minutes.
Creepy Axe Murderer Baffles, Wows Judges
7:37 PM: Klek Entos hits the stage with his face covered in a white cloth mask and an ax, and speaks to the judges via booming voice over played over the speakers in the theater.
It’s all part of a creepy-as-hell magic/mentalism trick (built around the Rorschach test) that pulls off every creepiness it sets out to accomplish.
He’s got lots of neat tricks (like having fire shoot out of his hands) and pulls out the other of all scares when he reveals a tarantula in a box.
All in all, Klek is an undeniably talented performer, but with acts like this its always hard to tell if the judges will want to deal with this for weeks to come.
“That was crazy, you’re insane… but I love you,” Heidi says, before voting yes.
Howie calls it “like a horror film” but votes yes because he’s afraid to vote no — an opinion Sofia shares.
Simon gives the final yes vote, meaning we’ll see more from Klek’s craziness in near future.
