Armenia’s prime minister tests positive for Coronavirus

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has tested positive for Coronavirus alongside members of his family. 

The Prime Minister of the South Caucasus nation made the announcement in a self-recorded video message published on Facebook on Monday June 1. 

Pashinyan who revealed that his journalist wife, Anna Hakobyan and their four children also tested positive for Coronavirus in the video, said he is asymptomatic (showing no symptoms) and will henceforth be working from home.

He said; 

 “Unfortunately, our test is positive, although I don’t show any symptoms”

Pashinyan also admitted that his government failed to enforce anti-virus measures, hence the widespread quarantine violations.

The announcement is coming days after health officials in the country which has recorded  9,492 cases of the coronavirus and 139 deaths, said intensive care treatment could be soon restricted to patients with the best chance of survival.
