The Nigerian Army has sacked the Commander, 23 Armour Brigade, Yola, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo, over the midnight invasion of Adamawa Police Headquarters (HQ), where many army personnel and a police inspector lost their lives.

Guardian reports that the development was made known when the new commander, Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya from Michika Local Council of Adamawa paid a visit to the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who looked excited and urged Zawaya to double his efforts towards reducing the crime rate in the state.

The governor who was worried over the invasion, tasked the new commander to synergise with other security agencies towards fighting kidnapping among other forms of criminality in Adamawa.

In his remarks, Zawaya assured the governor that he would do everything possible to maintain security across the state.

On November 22, the former commander mobilised 12 trucks of heavily armed soldiers to invade the police headquarters following a clash between some officers and policemen.
