Abdullah Mohammed, the son of the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has blamed Nigeria’s economic woes on oil theft.
Abdullah stated this in a post on Sunday, February 25, when he shared a screenshot of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s statement at a recent book launch.
Obasanjo, who was represented by former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, had said over 80 per cent of Nigeria’s crude oil were stolen.
According to the ex-president, one of the reasons Nigeria’s economy is in ruins is that while other oil-producing countries have records of their oil production, Nigeria cannot account for hers due to theft.
Echoing Obasanjo’s words, Abdullah said: “At the heart of our economic problems lies oil theft! Without addressing oil theft, we will all remain in perpetual lamentation as a nation.”
