Authorities say two Georgia firefighters who were found dead in June after going missing for nearly a week died from gunshot wounds in a murder-suicide.
An autopsy report obtained by 11 Alive, WTOC and Newsweek reportedly reveals that Raegan Anderson kidnapped her ex-boyfriend, Chandler Kuhbander, and fatally shot him inside her car in Cocke County, Tenn., before turning the gun on herself.
The autopsy report also reportedly says that Anderson left a note in the car apologizing for her actions.
11 Alive, citing police, reports that Anderson kidnapped Kuhbander in Georgia, forcing him to go with her. Both were found dead in Tennessee on June 30, five days after Anderson was last seen alive.
Kuhbander had two gunshot wounds in the upper back, near his neck, while Anderson suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, 11 Alive reported. Their manners of death were listed as homicide and suicide, respectively.
Kuhbander’s mother Jane had previously told local WJCL that Anderson and her son were high school sweethearts who dated for about seven years. She had pleaded for them to both return “home safe” after last speaking with her son on June 24.
Prior to their disappearance, Anderson was arrested on June 22 after confronting Kuhbander on a date with another woman at a local Olive Garden and then keying his car after she claimed he’d said hurtful things to her, according to an arrest report obtained.
An officer with the Pooler Police Department had tracked Anderson down at a nearby Walmart after she fled the scene when Kuhbander called police. There, Anderson told the officer she was on her way to a local pizza place when she spotted Kuhbander’s car in the Olive Garden parking lot, prompting her to go inside and confront both him and his date. Anderson told police she was “very hurt by him moving on” from their relationship.
“She stated they had been together for a long time and she was hurt,” the arresting officer wrote.
Kuhbander’s mom said her son told her that Anderson continued to call him after posting bond and leaving jail.
“He was telling me she was blowing up his phone, and he said that she had threatened that she was going to commit suicide,” Kuhbander’s mother told the outlet. “And, it’s not the first time that she’s done it.”

The pair were last seen on June 24, when they were spotted by security cameras in her car together in the parking lot outside his gym. Kuhbander’s parents told WJCL they had reviewed the security footage.
“At 11:40 my son walks out of the building and he looks very comfortable, like he just had his workout,” said Kuhbander’s mother. “He doesn’t look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don’t see him again.”
Kuhbander’s mother added: “You don’t want to be in this position. And when you see it on television, I can see how they feel. Then it hits you like I am that person. I do feel that way. This is terrifying and you have no answers.”
