Bristol’s mayor, Marvin Rees, announced the unofficial new category which have not been mentioned or implemented anywhere else in the country
Bristol has moved itself into a new coronavirus level called “Tier 1-plus” in order to tackle the growing surge of cases in the city.
The innovative new proposals were announced by the city’s mayor Marvin Rees in a press conference today.
The new tier is a local one and appears not to have been mentioned or implemented anywhere else in the country, reports BristolLive.
Currently, Bristol has 340.8 new coronavirus cases per 100,000 people – one of the highest in the country – but officially remains under Tier 1 restrictions.
Mr Rees said “we are looking at a Tier 1-plus approach” with “targeted actions” to reduce the spread of the virus.
