Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that there were 321 Covid-19 deaths in the week ending October 2 – compared with 215 the week before.

This accounts for more than three in every 100 deaths from all causes, the data shows.

The North West had the highest number of coronavirus deaths, with 106 recorded.

Since the start of the pandemic, ONS data shows, Covid-19 was mentioned on 50,642 death certificates in England and 2,619 in Wales.
