With the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Miss England 2019, Bhasha Mukherjee, has hung up her crown and returned to work as a doctor.

24-year-old Bhasha Mukherjee has gone back to her career after taking a break as a junior doctor to compete in the Miss World pageant in December 2019.

Mukherjee told CNN on Monday that she returned to the United Kingdom in order to help her fellow health care workers who complained about the long hours during this Coronavirus pandemic.

Mukherjee, upon her return to England, will be in self isolation at the the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, England for 14 days before she starts treating patients.

“I felt a sense of this is what I’d got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now.

“It was incredible the way the whole world was celebrating all key workers, and I wanted to be one of those, and I knew I could help.

“There’s no better time for me to be Miss England and helping England at a time of need,” she said.

There are at least 51,608 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.K., with 5,373 deaths as at Monday.
