A dad who was told he had tested positive for coronavirus and cancelled his family holiday, is fuming after being told he’d been sent someone else’s result.

Adam Bell should have flown to Madeira on Monday with his wife and two-year-old daughter.

But a government track and trace mix up left him scrambling to cancel the 7-day break less than 24 hours before they were due to set off.

The error could leave Adam £1000 out of pocket, Yorkshire Live reports.

As part of the Portuguese island’s protocol, all those who visit for a holiday have to take a coronavirus test 72 hours before they’re due to arrive.

Alternatively, once on the island, people can self-isolate for 12 hours and then take a test.
