A Texas dad is going viral for his message to his daughter following her unexpected breakup.

In May, Fallon Thompson shared a screenshot on TikTok of the text her father, Scott Thompson, sent her after her breakup, with the video garnering 3.8 million views.

“Hey baby girl … here is some perspective from your old man … I have had lots of relationships … from one-night stands, to flings, to friends w/ benefits, to girlfriends, to live-in girlfriends, and then I met your mom,” the message read.

“I can say with certainty that when I met her, it was instantly different,” he continued. “I can also say that I knew it was different because I went through those other experiences.”

“So what you are dealing with today is necessary in order for you to one day be able to discern when a person is really right for you,” he added. “I can also say that even though I was broken up with, and in one instance I was cheated on, it was worth it, to get to where I am now.”

The video also featured two more screenshots from Scott’s text to Fallon, including an anecdote about a bull running toward a storm.

“When a bull sees a storm, they run towards it,” Scott wrote offering Fallon wisdom. “So be the bull and lean into your storm, embrace the suck and let it fill you up,” he added.

Speaking to Good Morning America, the college student-athlete said that her dad, whom she considers her best friend, had sent her the message after her unexpected breakup.

“After I read the first sentence, I was like, ‘Oh, this is something that my heart needed,’ ” Fallon, 20, told the outlet. “I think in that moment, he knew that I just needed some uplifting words.”

“It was just one of those texts that’s so sweet you just sort of want to cry,” she added. “So I sort of teared up a little bit and I was like, ‘Wow, regardless of where my relationships may lead me in life, I know I’m always gonna have my dad and my family.’ That’s the most important thing to me.”

“It just really made my heart soar,” she continued.

Reflecting on what inspired him to send the text, Scott told the outlet that he wanted to find a way to help his daughter after seeing how upset she was.

“I knew it was really weighing hard on her and we got home and you know, as a dad, you just want to try to do something to help them with their pain or at least do what you can to help them have perspective on it,” he said.

He added how although it’s been fun seeing the positive comments and feedback on the video, that was never his intention.

“I was just trying to pour a little bit of wisdom into my daughter and give her some perspective,” he said. “It’s really cool that this helped out some other people and to me, that’s the best part about it.”
