Diego Maradona will undergo brain surgery following his admission to hospital, according to reports in Argentina.
The iconic Argentine was taken to a hospital in La Plata – about an hour and half drive away from the capital Buenas Aires – on Monday, just days after turning 60.
Maradona, the Barcelona and Napoli great, currently the manager of Gimnasia LP, was admitted and coronavirus was immediately ruled out as a cause for his illness.
Now however, amid much rumour and conjecture, TYC Sports have stated that Maradona will undergo surgery on a blood clot on his brain.
They declare that a subdural hemetoma was detected during a CT scan on Tuesday, and he will undergo surgery.
Maradona is being transferred to a clinic in Olivos for the procedure, which could last for up to six hours.
