Does Watching Porn Increase or Decrease Your Testosterone Levels
I’ve had the following question asked of me numerous times – does watching porn increase or decrease testosterone levels?
It’s an interesting question because the top 10 websites in the US always seem to include at least one porn site.
Which means there are lots of people watching porn, especially when over 80% is men.
Now, the answer to this question is even more interesting and it’ll surprise you.
For example, in one study it showed that a man’s testosterone levels shot up 35% because they watched porn. The increase in testosterone levels began about 15 minutes into watching porn and peaked about 90 minutes later.
The researchers also saw increased motivation, competitiveness and a decrease in exhaustion.
So, that’s the cool part.
However, the study was based on guys WATCHING porn, but NOT having an orgasm.
So, keep that in mind.
I mention this because once you do have an orgasm, there are changes in your hormones.
First, Prolactin levels shoot up. This is more of a female hormone and it controls sexual desire and how quickly you can get an erection and orgasm again.
Secondly, Oxytocin levels also go up after an orgasm. This creates a more loving connection between two people. Women produce super high levels of Oxytocin after birth, to connect with the newborn baby.
Thirdly, testosterone levels also decrease temporarily after an orgasm.
Now, their are other hormonal changes that also happen, but these are the main ones.
So what does all of this mean for you?
Watching porn increases your testosterone levels, which is a good thing. But according to the research, only if you do NOT orgasm.
So now that you know the research, you decide what you want to do.
However, don’t watch porn if your goal is to increase your testosterone levels.
