The President’s desperate appeal to ‘suburban women’ at a rally in Pennsylvania was followed by a tweet which will be unhelpful with the senior citizens he needs to back him in Florida
Donald Trump begged women to “like me”, before tweeting a bizarre attack on senior citizens as he continued his last-ditch campaign tour.
The President, who trails heavily in the polls to Democrat Joe Biden, made a direct appeal to “suburban women” during his speech to a packed, largely mask-free rally in Pennsyvania.
He repeated a claim, which has been criticised as racist, that allowing “low income” housing in suburban areas would increase crime in those districts.
He said: “I’m about law and order. I’m about keeping you safe. I don’t want to build low income housing next to your house.”
He then pleaded: “Suburban women, would you please like me? I saved your damn neighbourhood, OK?”
Minutes after the speech, as he flew back to Washington DC on Air Force One, the President’s Twitter account posted an attack on Joe Biden – and on senior citizens.
