Don’t allow evil forces emasculate special investigator, EFCC, Tinubu urged

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has called upon not to allow powerful forces in the Presidency and the National Assembly to emasculate the Presidential Special Investigator, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and other anti-graft agencies, and render them powerless.
A group, Nigerians for Better Nigeria, NBN, in a statement said it “is alarmed by the reports that powerful forces in the Presidency and the National Assembly are doing everything possible to emasculate the Presidential Special Investigator, the EFCC and other anti-graft agencies, and render them powerless.
NBN in the statement by its National Secretary, Abdulmumin Sanusi, said among others, that the group “is being inundated with complaints about interferences by these powerful forces and their agents in the activities of the Special Investigator, EFCC, and others preventing their operatives from investigating and prosecuting highly placed individuals who have looted Nigeria blind. These individuals are suspected to have starched looted public funds and stolen funds in various foreign banks and other places.
“There are reports that some of them even starched their ill-gotten wealth in vaults and unimaginable underground safes across the country in their desperation to keep the funds away from the eagle eyes of the Special Investigators, EFCC, and other anti-graft agencies. Sadly, as soon as the vigilante Special Investigator and EFCC operatives are closing in on them, these individuals will intervene, intimidate, and frustrate the Special Investigator and EFCC’s agents into submission.
While the government is looking for funds to address the nation’s challenges, these powerful individuals are stopping the Special Investigator EFCC and other anti-graft agencies from recovering looted funds that have contributed mostly to the socio-economic woes bedeviling the country Nigerians today.
“We are using this medium to plead with President Tinubu to tame these forces interfering in Special Investigator and EFCC’s anti-corruption fight. The Special Investigator and EFCC have been forced to deploy almost 100 percent of their energy on petty criminals like Yahoo boys, while big thieves and criminals who looted this country are suffocating the rest of us with their stolen wealth.
“His Excellency, it is either you tame these forces and allow the Special Investigator, the EFCC, or other anti-graft agencies to kill corruption or corruption will kill us. This is an opportunity to write your name in gold and change the narrative of corruption in Nigeria by stamping your foot on the ground against corruption no matter who is involved.”
