Former spokesperson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh on Thursday October 17, lost a bid to stop his criminal trial after being arraigned before Justice Ishaq Bello of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Olisa Metuh who has been facing trial since 2016 for allegedly receiving looted funds meant for the purchase of arms and ammunition during the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, had asked the high court Judge to strike out the criminal lawsuit against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged destruction of evidence while being investigated.
Upon reviewing arguments by the defendant and plaintiff’s counsels, Justice Bello stated that “the view of this court is that the application for a no-case submission is lacking in merit. It is hereby dismissed.”
He also ordered Olisa Metuh to enter defence in respect of the prima facie case already established against him by the EFCC.
