Former Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, took to his Twitter handle to question human right lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, for describing Katsina residents celebrating former President Muhammad Buhari as ‘’slaves”.
On Tuesday, May 30, Bashir shared videos from the Durbar ceremony Katsina state indigenes organised in honor of Buhari. They organized the Durbar to celebrate the former President who returned home on Monday after handing over power to President Tinubu. The video shared by Bashir showed a mammoth crowd that gathered for the celebration.
Reacting to the video, Inibehe described the excited crowd as ‘’slaves in love with their chains”. He wrote;
‘’Slaves in love with their chains. Despite the wanton killings that took place in Katsina and other parts of the country under Buhari, they are celebrating him. Tribalism, ethnicity and religious bigotry has ruined Nigeria.”
It appears Bashir was displeased by the word ‘’slaves” and asked Inibehe if he indeed called the people ‘’slaves”. Inibehe went on to explain why he used the term ‘’slaves.”
