Track star Gabby Thomas has been enjoying her success following her gold medal-winning turn at the Paris Olympics this summer – but she finally remembered to address a social media troll who doubted her.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Nov. 8, Thomas, 27, responded to a previous post from June 7, two months before the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, that read, “Something about Gabby Thomas just makes me not wanna see her medal at the Olympics…. I just can’t put my finger on it!”
Thomas, who won the gold medal in the women’s 200-meter final, posted, “I meant to come back to this I almost forgot.” She punctuated her response with a crying laughing emoji along with three gold medal emojis.

Thomas won the women’s 200m final at the Summer Games Aug. 6, crossing the finish line in 21.83 seconds. She finished 0.25 seconds faster than second place runner, Julien Afred of Saint Lucia, who won the country’s first gold in the 100m. Fellow American Brittney Brown took bronze behind them with a time of 22.20 seconds.
“This is six years in the making at least,” Thomas told reporters at Stade de France, including PEOPLE.
She added, “All of it was for this moment. My coach told me everything we’ve done up until this point — Tokyo Olympics, World Championships, even my injured year 2022 — it was for this, so that I was prepared and I was mature and I was ready.”
“I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that I would become an Olympic gold medalist and I am one and I’m still kind of wrapping my head around that,” Thomas continued.
The race marked the first Olympic gold for Thomas, who won both a silver and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021.
