Unknown gunmen have allegedly abducted 10 students of the Federal University of Lafia.
The students were reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Gandu community located about two kilometers away from the institution.
The gunmen arrived at the area, shooting sporadically and sending panicking students running for safety.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abubakar Ibrahim, confirmed the incident to journalists.
Ibrahim, however, noted that the total number of students abducted was yet to be ascertained.
Following the incident, students embarked on a peaceful protest to demand an end to the incessant kidnapping of their colleagues.
There have been frequent abductions of students of the university in recent times.
