Drinkers in fancy costumes were seen in various cities such as Birmingham, Leeds and Newcastle.

From Thursday, England will be put under a stringent second lockdown that will see bars, pubs and restaurants closing except for delivery or take-away services.

Many were seen wearing Halloween costumes, like a group of friends dressed up as bananas in Portsmouth.

Others used make-up to make themselves look like characters in movies and cartoons for the celebrations.
