Harvey Weinstein has been stripped of his CBE.

The former movie mogul, 68, was granted an honorary CBE, for his contribution to the British film industry, in 2004.

A notice in The Gazette, the UK’s official public record, said: “The Queen has directed that the appointment of Harvey Weinstein to be an Honorary Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, dated 29 January 2004, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

Weinstein was awarded by the Queen for his services to the British film industry.

The former film director was sentenced to 23 years in prison in March.

His sentence came after an investigation by the New York Times in Oct 2017 where several high profile women working in the showbiz industry claimed they had inflicted sexual abuse and harassment on them.
After the publication, more than 100 women, including famous actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Uma Thurman, accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

The shamed Hollywood star’s Los Angeles extradition hearing was been pushed back to December earlier this month.

It comes after the 68-year-old was handed a new charge of sexual assault in April, which related to an alleged assault of a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel on May 11, 2010.

It has been added to an LA case that alleged he assaulted two women in separate incidents in 2013.

Weinstein, who has consistently denied all charges, even after being jailed for 23-years, is adamant that he will appeal his conviction.

The Oscar winning film mogul has been revoked of other distinctions which were bestowed onto him throughout his career – including France’s prestigious Legion of Honour -following the allegations.

The Order of the British Empire is the final award to be revoked from the disgraced star.
