Gravedigger and doomsday author Chad Daybell has been held on charges of destruction or concealment of evidence after police found human remains buried at his home

Police investigating the disappearance of two siblings have found human remains buried at the home of their “doomsday cult” mum’s husband.

Gravedigger Chad Daybell, 51, was arrested on Tuesday and held without bond on charges of destruction or concealment of evidence, after authorities issued a search warrant at his home in Salem, Idaho.null

Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow, then 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17, went missing in September last year with their mum Lori Vallow, 46, having spent the last four months behind bars charged with two counts of abandonment and desertion.

During a press conference, Rexburg Police Assistant Chief Gary Hagen confirmed the discovery of the remains but said no formal identification had taken place.

East Idaho News reports witnesses saw several officers pull Daybell over in a silver SUV near his home around 11.30am, before the vehicle was towed away.

The news outlet had flown a helicopter over Daybell’s home as a search was carried out at the back of the house earlier that day, describing seeing canopies, tarps and a police dog – with FBI personnel also involved.

Officers previously removed 43 items from the house in a multi-agency raid on January 3.

As previously reported, Vallow is said to be part of a cult “where numerous members, adults and children alike have been killed off like flies”.

Worried family members have said the mum’s behaviour has changed over the last two years after getting involved with the mysterious cult.

The group was set up to prepare people for the second coming of Jesus Christ, according to reports in the US.

Vallow’s former husband Charles was shot dead in October.

She then married Daybell just weeks after his first wife died mysteriously in her sleep – with police now treating the death as potentially suspicious.

Their wedding was less than two months after her children disappeared.

Daybell, meanwhile, has written several apocalyptic novels loosely based on Mormon religious teachings, and is also said to involved in the cult.

The BBC reports, according to divorce documents filed by her late husband before his death, Vallow believes she is “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020”.
